The Square

We are a village pub full of heart, located in the magnificent Wickham square. Situated in what was formally known as ‘The Old Curio Shop’, the Square Cow boasts a beautiful open hall timber-framed building, with moments of history still preserved throughout.

At the Square Cow, there is something for everyone. We have vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options among our delicious home-cooked meals, and we offer a fabulous selection of gin and rums alongside our beer, wine and guest ales.

With a delightful terrace at the rear of the bar, our pub is the perfect place to enjoy a drink in the summer. And with a warm welcoming atmosphere inside, The Square Cow is a splendid experience all year round.

The Square Cow is located in the perfect spot for walkers and cyclists to stop by after exploring the stunning sights in and around Wickham.

The award-winning Wickham Music Festival is held just outside of the village every August.

Taste of Wickham is a food festival, first held in Wickham’s medieval square in 2014. The festival offers local produce, barbecues, tasters and cookery demonstrations.

Boxing Day each year sees an ‘impromptu’ gathering of typically over a hundred motor vehicles of all types in the village square. The vehicles ‘on show’ are whatever somebody decides to take along on the day and can range from veteran to classic.

The Square Cow is here to celebrate and accommodate every visitor in Wickham, so stop by next time you visit this lovely village!

Dirk started his culinary training in the Black Forest region in Germany and then went on to travel extensively as Executive Head Chef for various cruise liners improving his craft by creating international cuisine and winning prestigious awards.
He has a wealth of experience as a chef and has worked in some of the most famous restaurants in the world including Maxims de Paris and The Ivy in London.

Dirk now lives locally with his wife and likes nothing more than good, home-cooked food, which we truly believe in here at the Square Cow.
So please come and join us soon and see why we are so excited to have him join our team!
